Conservation chair

The Conservation Chair serves a variety of functions within the chapter. Responsibilities may include:

  • Managing the conservation committee within the chapter (Example of Conservation Committee Description & Roles;

  • Acting as the liaison between the chapter and local partners (non-profits, volunteer groups, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, US Forest Service, National TU staff, etc.);

  • Helping guide and maintain the chapter’s strategic plan in the conservation arena;

  • Recruiting and managing volunteers for conservation projects;

  • Planning and overseeing conservation projects;

  • Working with other chapter leaders to coordinate fundraising campaigns for specific conservation initiatives;

  • Developing media and stories that highlight conservation impacts in the local area;

  • Coordinating with Colorado TU and National TU staff on various conservation priorities;

  • Recruiting and training other chapter leaders to help plan and implement conservation projects;

  • Represent the chapter at events and meetings focused on conservation initiatives (i.e. native trout recovery team, stream management plan, public meetings hosted by land management agencies, etc.);

  • Provide reports to the chapter board on conservation progress, upcoming opportunities, volunteer numbers, etc.
