Greenback Recovery: Fish Sampling & Mapping at Grand Ditch and Upper Colorado Headwaters - FULL

This Project is FULL

Support Greenback Cutthroat recovery in the Cache la Poudre headwaters by working with the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife to help establish data on current fish populations in streams near the Grand Ditch.

Duties:    Depending on the project site and day, volunteers can expect to help with Electrofish/eDNA testing downstream of Grand Ditch, surveying the Upper Colorado River for fish distribution/extent; Identifying, mapping, and measuring physical barriers & determining security of barrier.

Volunteers can sign up for one-day slots or multiple-day slots. Due to the distance to the project site, one-day volunteers need to be willing to meet at the commute site at 6:30 am and should not expect to return to the commute site until 7:00 pm. Once at the destination, there will be additional hiking involved to get to the actual work site. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothes for wilderness hiking.

Single Day Volunteers - You will need to bring your own food and water for the day, comfortable work clothes, sunscreen and rain gear. This project is at approximately 9500’ in elevation and the weather can be unpredictable. Waders could be needed at any time but, will be needed on days with active fish tagging scheduled. Car pool available – location TBD
