Join Colorado Trout Unlimited’s Denver Angling Society for a special lunch and presentation with Leif Ahlm of Vermejo Park Ranch. Leif will share the incredible success story of Rio Grande cutthroat trout reintroduction at Vermejo Park Ranch. He will also discuss fishing opportunities on the property – from the 17 lakes to the 30 miles of pristine stream, the ranch offers fishing for all skill levels. In addition to Rio Grande cutties, you might land a rainbow, brown, or brookie on any given day.
Vermejo Park Ranch straddles the Colorado-New Mexico border and spans more than 590,000 acres. For the last 15 years, a conservation focus has guided every undertaking at the ranch, from the work on native trout restoration to the practice of sustainable outdoor recreation and food harvesting. Leif Ahlm is the Hunting Coordinator and Fisheries Biologist for Vermejo Park Ranch.Prior to joining the team at the ranch in 2011, he was with New Mexico Game and Fish. Leif spent 25 years with Game and Fish in roles from Wildlife Officer to Fisheries Biologist to Northeast Regional Chief. At Vermejo, Leif assists with Rio Grande cutthroat restoration and manages the Class A lake fisheries and the hunting operations on the ranch. Leif has degrees in Fisheries Science and Aquatic Biology from New Mexico State University and Texas State University.
Denver Angling Society Luncheons are hosted by Colorado Trout Unlimited and held monthly from October through May at the Denver Athletic Club. Cost is $30 per person in advance (reserve by 2 pm Tuesday, April 3rd – admission is $35 at the door) and includes a plated lunch, keynote presentation, and an opportunity to connect with other downtown Denver professionals.
